What You Need to Know About 6 Major Changes to California Workplace Laws

Keeping up with labor laws can leave you feeling like you're in a maze of regulations, especially in California.

Adding to the confusion, the laws frequently change, sometimes dramatically.

In California, this year, the drama was everywhere, from strict new standards for defining independent contractors to bold new anti-sexual harassment mandates.

It’s enough to make even the most devoted, on-point HR professional’s head spin. Don’t worry, you’re in luck! We can help guide you through what you need to know about the newest additions to California workplace law.

SBS Payroll and eqHR Solutions Inc. are teaming up to host the can’t-miss 2019 Labor Law Update Seminar at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at eqHR’s Irvine headquarters.

The Perfect Guide to Your HR Success

The speaker, June Jeong, founder and CEO of eqHR, has spent her career as a human resources expert. With a background in employee engagement, resolving disputes, strategic planning, mentoring and coaching, she’s the ideal guide for navigating California’s ever-changing regulatory landscape.

During the hour-long seminar, Jeong will touch on many of the major changes to California law in 2019. She’ll break down Dynamex v Superior Court, a groundbreaking case which has made classifying workers as independent contractors far more challenging.

Jeong will also address the California Fair Employment and Housing ACT (SB 1300). Part of a legislative package known as the “#TakeTheLead” bills, the laws have been described by equality advocacy group Equal Rights Advocates as “the boldest" anti-sexual harassment measures in the country.

Additionally, the seminar will touch on new regulations governing anti-harassment training, lactation accommodations, off-the-clock work and what’s permissible to ask job candidates.

Attend and Win!

We will also be holding a raffle at the seminar. One lucky attendee will have a choice of a complimentary employee handbook or state-mandated anti-harassment training for employees (up to 20 participants), both courtesy of eqHR.
